About the 36K Clean Air Challenge
What is the 36K Clean Air Challenge?
The 36K Clean Air Challenge is a brand-new challenge from Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation which we hope will encourage companies and their workforce to raise funds and take action on air pollution. You can pick your own challenge related to the number 36k and complete it over the course of October and November. Take it one step further by completing our Clean Air badges to become a Clean Air Champion for your company.
When is the 36K Clean Air Challenge?
The 36k Clean Air Challenge runs from 1st October to the end of November, but you can start fundraising straightaway. You can also pay in any last-minute donations up until the 30th November.
How do I register and is there a registration fee?
No, taking part in the 36k Clean Air Challenge is completely free. It’s all about raising as much as you can for the Asthma UK and British Lung Foundation.
I’m taking part with my company, how can I join their team?
Before you get started, you will need to know which charity your company is supporting, as this is required at the beginning of your registration journey. Next, within the first step of registration, you can enter your company name and your position. Then, on the third step, you can either search and join an existing team, or create your own.
Where is my money going if I choose to fundraise for Asthma UK?
Asthma UK works to stop asthma attacks and, ultimately, cure asthma by funding world-leading research and scientists, campaigning for change and supporting people with asthma to reduce their risk of a potentially life-threatening asthma attack. If you need advice, call the Asthma UK helpline on 0300 222 5800 or WhatsApp our nurses on 07378 606728.
Where is my money going if I choose to fundraise for the British Lung Foundation?
By fundraising for the British Lung Foundation, you’ll allow our researchers to find new treatments and cures. You’ll enable us to campaign for better policies on lung health. And you’ll help people to get lifesaving advice from our support services. Our work is vital. If you need advice, you can call the British Lung Foundation helpline on 03000 030 555.
Fundraising
How much do I need to raise?
We’re asking each company taking part to aim to raise £1,000 as part of their 36K Clean Air Challenge. That means if ten members of staff are taking part in the challenge, you’d need to raise £100 each to reach this goal! £1,000 could pay for more than 80 air pollution monitoring kits , which will help us to expand our pollution monitoring to as many places as possible.
How do I pay in my fundraising?
All the donations that you collect on your fundraising page here will come through to your chosen charity automatically. We’d recommend collecting all your fundraising on your page and directing your supporters to donate straight to your page. Then you can see your grand total and it’ll be included in the overall 36k Clean Air Challenge total!
How do I pay in money that has been donated to me by cash or cheque?
You can add these as an ‘Offline Donation’. Once you're logged in, go to My Donations and click the blue button that says ‘Add Offline Donation’
Can I set up a Facebook fundraiser as part of the 36K Clean Air Challenge?
Facebook might prompt you to set up a Facebook fundraiser when you post to share your page, or even ask you to enable fundraising on that post.
Please do not set up a Facebook fundraiser as part of your 36K Clean Air Challenge fundraising. This is because we will not be able to track any fundraising made through Facebook fundraisers and will therefore not be able to recognise this in your overall fundraising total.
Where can I find resources to boost my fundraising?
We’ve got plenty of extra resources to give your fundraising that extra push! Take a look at our extra resources page to get some great ideas to boost your fundraising.
Why aren't I receiving any emails to help with my fundraising?
Unfortunately sometimes our emails go into junk mail folders, so we advise that you check your junk and spam folders to make sure that they haven't been sent there. If you are still having problems, please contact cleanairchallenge@auk-blf.org.uk and we'll be happy to help you.
Company Teams
What happens if somebody donates to my company’s team, will their donation show on my fundraising page?
Donations that are made directly to the team fundraising page will not sit with one individual fundraiser but show as part of the team total. If a donation is made to an individual fundraising page, this will show on that page but it will also show as part of the team total.
If my company signs up as a team, do we complete one challenge together or are challenges individual?
This is completely up to your company and the way you would like to take part in the 36k Clean Air Challenge. You could either have a daily goal for your company, for example walking a total of 36 miles every day in October, or you could have personal challenges, for example completing 36 squats every day in October.
Why hasn't my fitness app activity updated on my fundraising page?
Your fitness app will sync your activities every day. Please wait until the next day for your distance to update.
If your fitness activities don't seem to be syncing, please login to your 36K Clean Air Challenge account and re-connect your app in the 'My Fitness Activity' section of your profile.
