I’m running the London Marathon 2025 to fight for lung health!
Firstly, I want to take the time to say thank you in advance for reading my page.
In 2016 at the age of just 5 years old my son, Euan suffered a serious asthma attack. Fortunately, he pulled through and at the age of 14 still requires preventative medication so we don't experience the same thing again. It was an ordeal that no parent ever wants to go through and if it wasn't for charities like Asthma and Lung UK and the research they do then it could have been a very different outcome.
This year I am running the London Marathon. In doing so, I will be completing the 'London Classics' having completed Ride 100 and Swim Serpentine in 2024. This will be a huge personal challenge as running isn't my strongest discipline so it will be the biggest challenge I've ever faced. As a result, I would love to raise money for Asthma and Lung UK for all the good work they do. This will help motivate me to get out and complete all my training runs and hopefully cross the finish line on April 27th.
I am running for Asthma and Lung UK as they do fantastic work for helping people living with breathing conditions. They also fight for the following reasons -
· In the UK, respiratory care simply isn’t good enough.
· Even before Covid-19, NHS hospital admissions for lung conditions were rising three times faster than average admissions.
· Lung disease is now the third most common cause of death, costing the NHS more than £9 billion every year. So this issue needs to be at the top of the health agenda.
· People living with lung conditions are often overlooked and being left behind. This condition isn’t accurately diagnosed at an early stage – and even when they are diagnosed, they’re not given the care they need.
