Why I’m running for Asthma + Lung UK
Friday 9th AugOn Sunday 27th April, I’ll be running my first marathon, THE London Marathon, in support of Asthma + Lung UK, and would be very grateful for your support.
Running a marathon has always been an endurance event I have wanted to accomplish, and because I’ll probably only do one (see below), I wanted this race to be more than just a race. I’ve decided to take on this challenge in memory of my dad, who lived with asthma his entire life, but never let this be the reason for not doing something. This year also marks 6yrs since he passed from lung cancer, and I cannot think of a better way to commemorate his life than by running in his honour and raising money for Asthma + Lung UK, who support others who have suffered like him, from both asthma and lung disease.
For those who’ve heard me talk (complain) about running, you will know that taking on this challenge was not an easy decision – my body likes throwing me curveballs when I run, in the form or explained and (mostly) unexplained issues/injuries, exactly when training seems to be going well. Whilst I had to regrettably postpone in 2024 (unexplained issues) and am currently (very) far behind on training due to more issues, I am staying positive and determined to cross the finish line this year!
As the UK’s lung charity, Asthma + Lung UK are on a mission to transform lung health. Any donation, big or small, will make a huge difference!
Thank you very much for your support!
