Hope Half Hour 2023

I’m doing the Hope Half Hour this January.

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with lung disease. Asthma + Lung UK is the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. The Asthma + Lung UK helpline gives on average half an hour of support to everyone who contacts them.

I’m doing the Hope Half Hour, walking half an hour every day in January, to make a difference. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

My Updates

Challenge completed - thank you!

Wednesday 1st Feb
Completed the challenge - at least 30 mins of walking (or alternative exercise) every day. Thank you so much to my sponsors for encouraging me and giving to such a good cause.

Week 4 completed (just about...)

Saturday 28th Jan
Difficult week at work and was struggling to fit in exercise before nightfall, so had to resort to 30 mins exercise bike (much worse!) a couple of days. On Saturday, we went for a lovely walk around a creek with a group of friends and saw exciting birds including two curlews (apparently).
3 more days to go to complete the challenge!

Week 3 completed!

Saturday 28th Jan
Did at least 30 minutes every day. Week included a 5 mile hike up to Halvasso, and a wassail (!) which included loads of exercise (some while playing a musical instrument), as well as cider, soup and singing. The week also included snow!

Week 2 completed!

Wednesday 18th Jan
At least 30 minutes every day. Rainy weather and lots of mud (plus dark by the time I finish work), so mainly just local. Flexed my 30-min lunch break for one 5.2 mile walk to town to pick up a prescription and admire the swans in the harbour.

Week 1 completed!

Saturday 7th Jan
Walks this week have included two early morning walks before work (urgh!) with Richard, a lovely walk past quarries, woods and streams with Kate and Jeremy to a local cafe (Via Ferrata via Trevone), along the Helford also with K&J, a very muddy field walk with Lisa and round the reservoir with Richard.
Next week will include four early morning walks, so will be more of a challenge for me!! Why not encourage me with a bit of sponsorship? :)

Thank you to my Sponsors
