London Marathon 2025

I’m running the London Marathon 2025 with #TeamBreathe

I can’t quite believe I’m writing this… but here goes!

I was the kid at school that tried to dodge every single cross country event - and for those I couldn’t dodge I would quit at least half way through with an asthma attack.

Almost a year and a half ago I started my journey with running, supported by my wonderful friend Debbie, who joins me on local runs as we chat, jog, laugh, cry and process life whilst running together. It’s been a game changer for me, my fitness and my asthma and to celebrate I am aiming to run the London Marathon in 2025 to raise awareness for #TeamBreathe and encourage anyone who thinks they can’t possibly run, to just take that first step.

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

Coaching!

Thursday 29th Aug
Had my introduction session with my running coach last night! Can’t wait to get cracking with my plan… 3 month of base building up until Xmas and the full preparation. Most challenging thing will be sticking to weekly miles - I love running and would go every day if I could… BUT need to protect myself from injury… first training run starts Sunday! Whoop whoop!

10km for Asthma health!!

Monday 8th Jul
Never did I think I’d choose to run 10km to help me through an asthma flair up.
This morning I took my fostair with me and slowly managed to breathe through it! Amazing what a bit of fresh air can do for the lungs!!! The important learning for me was to not push it, not try to go faster, just breathe and chat through my run. I do find that talking with my running partner massively helps with my breathing as I can’t hear my breathing and thus can’t go into panic mode. Not to self… when asthma is doing her thing, get the AirPods in or chat through it!! 🙏🏻❤️
