I’m running the London Marathon 2025 to fight for lung health!
This year has been one of the most heartbreaking of my life. In February 2024, I lost my beloved mum, my rock, my guiding light, and the heart of our family. She battled asthma and other lung conditions with incredible strength, but her loss has left a void I can’t begin to put into words. Losing her has been overwhelming, especially as it came ten years after the passing of my dad. My mum was everything to me, the backbone of our family and I still haven’t come to terms with how to navigate my life without her, I miss her every second of every day - I miss not being able to call her for our daily catch ups, where she would inform me of a new parking fine she received or her continuous problems with her Sky TV.
In her memory, and to honour the love and resilience she taught me, I’ve decided to take on a challenge that feels both daunting and deeply meaningful, I’ll be running the London Marathon in 2025 for my chosen charity - Asthma and Lung UK. I’ve never ran a race before let alone a marathon, but this isn’t just about running. It’s about channeling my grief into purpose, giving back to a cause close to my heart, and carrying on my mum’s legacy.
What makes this journey even more special is that my sister will also be joining me running the marathon. We’ll be taking on this challenge together, supporting one another every step of the way, just as our mum would have wanted. This is a tribute to my mum’s strength and the love she gave us and it’s a way for us to stand together as a family, even in her absence. Every step we take will be for her, and I know she’ll be with us, urging us forward, just as she always did.
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition, profoundly affecting millions. Asthma + Lung UK is the only UK charity dedicated to ensuring everyone can breathe freely, supporting research, offering life-changing advice, and advocating for better lung health policies. They provide essential support for people with conditions like asthma, COPD, and rare lung diseases. Every donation contributes to funding vital research, patient support, and awareness efforts, bringing us closer to a world where healthy lungs are a reality for all.
Your support for this cause would mean the world to me, whether it’s through a donation, sharing our story, or simply offering words of encouragement, it all makes a difference. Together, we can honor her memory and make a real impact for those in need.
