I’m running the London Marathon 2025 to fight for lung health!

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

Do you or anyone you know possess lungs? Then this is the donation page for you!

Hi, I'm Matt Tobin. You might remember me from such previous fundraisers as Dry January 2018 (I lasted a week so that's encouraging) and Movember 2016 (despite already being bearded).

As 8% of the UK population suffer with asthma and around 20% of the UK will have a lung disease diagnosis in their lifetime. Chances are you will know a few people who make up this statistic.

Seeing multiple friends struggle with asthma, as well as having seen the effects of long covid, air pollution and cystic fibrosis, asthma and lung disease is something that affects all of us in some form, especially at the high volume of people affected. 

For anyone who knows me, you will be aware that I am someone who has never particularly taken much care of my body, through either exercise or diet. I am very fortunate to have not suffered from any respiratory diseases, and with that, it is time to give something back and make a difference. I only started running in April so please donate to be in for a chance to watch me ruin myself and question my actions during the process.

As a result, I am running the Race for Life 10k (rival charity, boo!) in St Albans (July), Herts 10k (October), Aintree Half Marathon (February), Liverpool Half Marathon (March) and the London Marathon (April) to raise as much as possible to aid research and fight these awful respiratory conditions.

Whatever you are able to donate, be it large or small, would mean the absolute world. Let's beat this together 💪
