I’m running the London Marathon 2025!
Im really pleased that I was picked to run the London Marathon 2025 on behalf of Asthma & Lung UK as part of #TEAMBREATHE. I ran the Brighton marathon in 2024 and after seeing the London event on TV I was adamant I was going to run it in 2025. I entered the ballot with another 249k people to be told it wasn’t my year, but I was aware that there was a possibility of gaining a place through a charity. I contacted Asthma & Lung plus another which both very kindly offered me a place for 2025.
Recently our family have become a lot more aware of the issues people face with lung related diseases and the impact it has upon their life. Our Dad was diagnosed with COPD 4 years ago and since then we have learnt just how much work there is required in this field. COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is very common condition which can limit normal activities due to shortness of breath, persistent cough, constant chest infections and fatigue. COPD became the most important word for us and since then we have seen firsthand the impacts this can have on patients and those that care for them.
Asthma & Lung UK charity was set up after merging Asthma UK & British Lung Foundation in January 2020 with the goals of focusing on support for patients, research, education and treatment. Working closely with the NHS to enable them to have a better understanding of lung related disease and how that can benefit patients. Goal for Asthma & Lung UK is to triple funding to lung research by 2027 to develop new methods to diagnose conditions quicker and more accurately. Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice.
