For my son Dougie - l'm running the London Marathon 2025 to fight for lung health!
As some of you may be aware ever since Dougie was born he has suffered with his breathing, more so when he got a cough or cold. He has had multiple visits to hospital and A&E over his 5 years with limited answers apart from 'he's a covid baby'. This year he however finally got the help, support and diagnosis we all needed. Finally they have diagnosed him with asthma and with the right medication he is like a different boy! He's also finally sleeping!
I cannot thank the respiratory nurses enough for their support and trying different doses, medication to ensure Dougie survived a winter without a hospital visit, and we did it!
Whilst this is going to be a massive challenge for me, I cannot wait to be part of #TeamBreathe!.
If you can spare any pennies to support my journey I would really appreciate it.
Love Jess xx
Just a little bit of what this money can do and what an important cause I am running for:
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
My Updates
6 months to go!
Sunday 13th Oct Well after a great start I sadly picked up an ankle injury which had me out of running of 6 weeks. However I'm back on the streets running 3 x a week. I'm by no means fast but I have been going out in the wind, rain and the little sunshine we have had left. I'm enjoying the training so far and with 10k in the bag I'm on my way just another 30k to do! ShareFirst run -1st June 2024
Saturday 1st Jun Well today was the day my first run! Now I may not have been fast but I completed 5k! It's certainly a start. My aim is to get to a half marathon by christmas and then can do my 16 week marathon training from then. It's all exciting, scary, well damn right stupid probably but it's going to be fun!
