London Marathon 2025

We’re running the London Marathon 2025 to fight for lung health!

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. We want to make a difference. We’re running the London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound we’re able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. We’d be very grateful for any donations you could make!

Jen’s Story

I have suffered from asthma from the age of 10.  Over the years I have had many different inhalers to control my asthma and a few trips to hospital to be put on a nebuliser. At one point I was unable to walk very far without getting out of breath so I never thought I would be in a position to run the London Marathon!! I started running about 5 years ago with Kate and wouldn’t be able to run like I do today without her encouragement and support. I also grew up with my Mum having asthma as well, I remember waking up countless times, when I was young, to her having really bad attacks which often needed hospitalisation. She used a very old inhaler for many years which wasn’t particularly helpful and it wasn’t until a new doctor finally updated her inhalers that she was able to control her asthma. Unfortunately her asthma restricted her doing lots of physical activities when she was young including not being able to swim or run.  I am therefore running the London Marathon because I never thought I would be in a position to do so, and also for my Mum who is alive today because of the research carried out by charities such as Asthma+Lung UK, the development of new medicine and the support we have both received from medical professionals over many years.

Kate’s Story

I started running with Jenny about 5 years ago.  Jenny always carries an inhaler with her and sometimes needs to use it, although this has become less frequent over the years.  I always carry a spare inhaler for her just incase she forgets hers. The distance she is able to run has improved over the years and I will never forget her first 10k she was so excited!! Both our running abilities have gone from strength to strength and now we feel ready to run the 2025 London Marathon together.  This is a massive distance I never thought I’d be able to run!  I have had to look after many children having asthma attacks over the years in my job as a Teaching Assistant.  I am therefore fully aware of the debilitating nature of this horrible lung condition, and why it is so important to have charities like Asthma+Lung UK who research, campaign and give advice and support to those suffering with it.  We also plan to fundraise at our local school, where there are also many children who have asthma and will benefit from charities like this one.
