I’m running the London Marathon 2025 in memory of my wonderful mum and to fight for lung health!
In April 2025 I will be running my first ever marathon, the TCS London Marathon. But why am I doing this?
On 11th November 2013, my brother and I were very suddenly without my Mum, my dad without his wife, my Nanny and Grandad without their daughter, my Uncle without his sister. That day, my Mum passed away very unexpectedly from Sudden Asphyxia Asthma and now my family has a great big hole in our hearts.
Losing a parent is difficult at any age, but being eight years old was especially tough. You’re supposed to feel protected and safe from harm. But Instead, I was thrown into years of deep and painful grief which I carry with me today.
My Mum was absolutely adored by so many within the community as a friend, teaching assistant and avid netball player, so losing her was devastating for many beyond just our family.
She was the most bubbly and enthusiastic person I have ever met and of course the kindest and most loving parent. Every night before bed, she would always say “I love you one more than you can even say” and I would reply “I love you one more than you can even say plus one”.
She loved myself and my brother so much, as did we her. I am so proud to be her daughter and our resemblance is something that I pride myself on every day, carrying her with me in everything I do.
Although Sudden Asphyxia Asthma is an extremely rare condition, Asthma and other lung conditions are not. Every minute someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. Personally, I want to make a difference to prevent such devastation and grief and also help those who suffer everyday.
I'm running the London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK with #teambreathe, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs. For example, just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice.
I would be very grateful for any donations you could make towards this brilliant cause which most certainly affects yourself or someone you know in one way or another.
This is for you Mummy and I know you will be with me every step of the 26.2 mile way🌻 💞💘💕
Good luck, see you there!
