London Marathon 2025 - It ain’t easy being wheezy
Sunday 22nd DecHelp Me Raise Funds for Asthma and Lung UK
When you hit your late 20s, people say you’re either settling down to have a baby or training for a marathon. Well, clearly I don’t have a baby…so here we are! This April, I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise awareness and funds for Asthma and Lung UK, a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart.
Lung health is something I’ve witnessed the struggles of firsthand. My own mum battled lung cancer, and to say it terrified me is an understatement. Watching her go through that was one of the hardest experiences of my life, but it also showed me how strong the human spirit can be. She fought with resilience and courage, and it’s a strength I’ll carry with me as I take on this challenge.
It’s not just my mum’s journey that makes this cause so personal. Both my brother and I have asthma, and it’s something that’s impacted us every day. Living with asthma can be terrifying at times and unless you’ve experienced it, it’s hard to understand just how debilitating it can be. Yet so many people across the UK live with this reality, and they deserve all the support they can get.
As a nurse, I see the impact of lung disorders every single day. Patients dealing with life-altering diagnoses, undergoing grueling treatments, and showing incredible strength to keep going. It’s inspiring, but it’s also a stark reminder of how much support, research, and resources are needed to help these people continue to fight. Charities like Asthma and Lung UK are essential in providing that support, and they rely heavily on fundraising efforts like this one.
That’s why I’m dedicating this run to making a difference. I want to give back to the people and organizations that have helped my mum, my patients, and so many others. By raising funds for Asthma and Lung UK, I hope to ensure that more people get the help they need to overcome lung conditions and lead fuller lives.
If you can, please consider donating, every little bit makes a huge difference. And if you’re not in a position to donate, I’d be so grateful if you could share this page to spread the word. Together, we can help more people breathe easier.
Thank you so much for your support—it truly means the world to me. Let’s do this!
