London Marathon 2025

I’m running the London Marathon 2025 for my nephew, Ethan.

On the 27th April 2025 I will be running my first ever marathon, London marathon, which I still can’t quite believe! When I received the email to confirm that I’d been accepted, the nerves hit big time! Not knowing what to do, I phoned everyone close to me to talk it through. The phone call with my sister-in-law, Rach, answered everything for me. Listening to her enthusiasm and excitement about the event was one thing, but the tears that came as we spoke about her son Ethan confirmed deep down, I knew exactly what I needed to do.

In October 2020 Ethan, aged 5 at the time had a massive asthma attack triggered by a virus too great for his little body to fight.  Ethan spent 5 days on a life support machine fighting for his life, trying to muster the strength to breathe for himself, trying to beat the asthma attack – Ethan fought with everything he had, and he won! Since then, Ethan has had numerous hospital admissions with an asthmatic episode, he takes 6 different types of daily medication to try to keep his asthma at bay and has to constantly go to Drs appointments and the hospital for reviews.  He’s the most positive, energetic, happy little boy, his passion is skiing and having fun, but, sometimes his life gets put on hold because of asthma. He’s been blue lighted through Italy and had holidays cancelled when the asthma takes hold, but despite everything he has been through and his ongoing battles he never stops smiling and being happy.

Thanks to the ongoing research of charities like Asthma and Lung UK, our knowledge of asthma, how to manage it and how to treat it is always improving.

Ethan is a natural born fighter – but in order for him to keep winning his fight with asthma he has to be surrounded by people who will fight for him and alongside him.

With working full time and having two young children, Margot 3 and a half and Maddox 18 months, training isn’t going to be easy but having the memories of the horrendous time our family went through, the many moments of feeling helpless as we sat and waiting for any updates, will give me everything I need to get the training done. If Ethan can fight for his life, I can run a marathon.

Together we’ll get him through it. #TeamBreathe

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs. Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice.

Thank you for your time in reading this, any donations will be hugely appreciated.

Grand Prix Oulton Park Half Marathon

Game face… or attempting not to be blown away by storm Bert 🌪️🌧️

Grand Prix Oulton Park Half Marathon

Monday 25th Nov
During storm Bert I took on the Oulton Park half marathon and attempted my first sub 2 hour half marathon time. This course was described as pan flat when I booked it, which I thought would be perfect for a PB attempt. However, that was most definitely not the case! 5 brutal laps, in high winds, harsh rain and 3 hills per lap was not what I was expecting 🥵 but I did go and get my sub 2 hour goal and completed this half marathon in 1:58 🤩🤩 making this time even more special to me considering how the event panned out!!

A week of rest now, thankfully, and then I start my first block of training towards London Marathon 2025!

Manchester Half Marathon 2:06

Manchester Half Marathon

The ultimate test of the knee and we survived!

The run up to this race hadn't been the best, with illnesses and injuries the most I wanted out of this race was to enjoy it and have no issues with my knee. It was a huge success! I also bagged myself a new PB 💪🏼

This race gave me a huge boost in confidence, something I’d been lacking a lot of since the ongoing issue of my knee. Now we have finally sorted the issue, it’s time to build for the marathon… or is it?! 😉

Denstone 10 mile

Wednesday 28th Aug
Before the fall 👵🏼 happy, smiling and in my element!

Denstone 10 miler - DNF

Wednesday 28th Aug
I had been looking forward to this race since booking it, I thought it would be a good test to see where I was ahead of my half marathon in October. However it certainly didn’t go as I had hoped 😭
When booking the race it was stated that this was a road race, however, it turned out to be a trail race and I wore my race trainers 🤦🏼‍♀️ with no support or not a lot of grip I went over on my ankle and hit the ground. I tried to continue to run but my right leg didn’t feel right. The medical team came to my rescue and picked me up and got me back to my car. Lots of tears of disappointment and being very hard on myself but after a couple of days I now see there are positives to take from this race. I felt so good and strong whilst running and I was hitting the pace I wanted to and I pushed myself, picking off the people in front of me determined to get passed them!
After some physio I now need to take a couple of days off to rest and let my leg heal. I have 6 weeks until my half marathon so fingers crossed that goes better 🤞🏼

5k Test Run!

Monday 29th Jul
This weekend my coach, Tom, had me complete a 5k test run, running 5k as fast as possible. I have been working with TB Triathlon for 9 months now, I started back in November 2023 10 months after giving birth to our son, Maddox. Back in November I ran the same course in 28:51, that was giving everything I could. This weekend I ran the course again and achieved 24:29, knocking 4 minutes and 22 seconds off my time!
This is setting me up nicely for my 2 final races of 2024, the Denstone 10 miler and the Manchester Half Marathon.
After completing the Manchester Half in October, I will be taking a weeks rest ready to start the build into marathon training. Exciting times to come!
