London Marathon 2025

London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK 🫁

Those who know me know I’m not a runner by any stretch. I’ve been unfit and overweight for a while and have suffered with asthma since I was a child but 2024 so far has been the year of starting the gym, losing weight and giving up bad habits.. So why not throw a marathon into the mix? Every April I sit and watch the London Marathon and tell myself ‘I’ll do that one day’ and so here we are. Sunday 27th April 2025, the year I turn 30 and run 26.2 miles. One for the bucket list, right?

Running for Asthma + Lung UK will be an honour and very personal to me what with having asthma myself, having family members with severe asthma and COPD and also losing my Nan to emphysema. I am lucky that my asthma is fairly controllable with medication but it has definitely set me back at times and caused a lot of doubt as to whether I can complete something in case I can’t breathe or end up ill! However there are lots of people who really do struggle, who spend a lot of time hospital, attached to breathing aids or nebulisers or who can’t carry out simple daily tasks without becoming breathless.

Breathing to most people is taken for granted and it is hard to explain how scary it is to feel like you have no control over your lungs or your next breath. That is why it is so important to raise awareness and continue researching into lung health and how ever-developing medication is making a difference to those in need. I certainly won’t be able to run this Marathon without my inhalers and I hope that completing it will go some way to prove to myself and others with asthma that you CAN do it!

I will be posting updates in the lead up to the race next year and would massively appreciate any support you can give! I will also post regularly about any fundraisers or events being planned in aid of Asthma + Lung UK so please keep an eye out.

Thank you everyone!
