I’m running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in the fight for breath!
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with lung disease. I want to make a difference. I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe.
Lung
conditions are often caused and/or triggered by exposure to things that are often related to socioeconomic status
including air pollution, poor housing, tobacco smoking, and access to healthcare services. All of these are drivers of
health inequalities: unfair, avoidable, and systematic differences in health between different groups within society.
In a recent report Asthma and Lung UK found that when compared to the wealthiest people, the most deprived in the population were twice as likely to be admitted to ED and and die from their lung condition.
Lung health should not be a lottery, and access to sufficient health care should not be based on an individual’s postcode.
