I’m running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in the fight for breath!

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with lung disease. I want to make a difference. I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

So, in two weeks time I will be running the Royal Parks half marathon for Asthma + Lung UK.

As a paediatrician with an interest in respiratory medicine I look after many children with respiratory problems - predominantly asthma. I see how, for many, with the right treatment and support it is a very manageable disease but for some it can be debilitating. Asthma + Lung UK are a great charity that provide support and resources to patients and Health Professionals as well as funding research and driving policy change.

It is 9 years since I did my last half marathon but I wanted to do one more before a certain milestone birthday! I’ve been training over the last few months and will be doing my longest training run tomorrow (so far up to 15.5 K). I won’t be fast but I will finish!
